My Astronomy Equipment

I have listed the astronomy equipment that I own and use. I would like to stress that all this equipment is not needed in order to take astro pictures.

All you need is a camera - now get our there!

Mounts

Vixen GPDXA sturdier version of Vixen's popular Great Polaris (GP). A German Equatorial Mount with a load capacity of 10Kg.

The mount is equiped with motors that drive the telescope in RA and DEC and the motors in turn are controlled by a Skysensor hand held computer, also from Vixen.

The mount is used with the HAL110 tripod from Vixen

Vixen GPThe popular Great Polaris with drives for RA and DEC controlled by the Vixen DD1.

I have added a tweak to the controller that enable a normal PC to control the telescope during auto guiding. The project worked but was abandoned anyway due to the arrival of the GPDX

The mount is used with the HAL110 tripod from Vixen

Desktop EQ1A very small, about 30cm high, mount that can be used as a mount for camera socketed equipment. The mount features a drive in RA. The idea is to be able to use the mount for light-weight camera photography during sittuations when the larger mounts are unsuitable.

Telescopes

WOC 110mm FlourostarA superb 110mm APO Refractor whorty its own page!

WOC 80mm MegrezAnother great piece of equipment that have gotten its own page!

GSO 200mm DobsonA very good newtonian reflector on a simple dobsonian mount. This is my most used telescope when I dont have a lot of time. It is standing outside under my roof and I just carry it out from under the roof to observe. I have enjoyed many good views of the planets in this telescope.

This type of telescope is great value for money. Take a look at my links page to view astronomy shops that sell this telescope. Almost anyone can aford one!

GSO 112mm Newton with EQ TripodA small easy to use Newtonian telescope. Very cheap yet pretty good optical quality. The mount that comes with the scope is however somewhat painful to use :|

Cameras

Olympus OM1Manual and analogue SLR camera that I used a lot before the arrival of cheap digital SLR's. Light weight but high quality. don't need any batteries to work!
Canon 10DA sold my Canon D60 and upgraded to this newer digital SLR, also from Canon. This is the camera that I currently use for Astrophotography. I also use it a lot for normal photography.
Analogue Canon SLRI have added a analogue Canon SLR to my collection in order to be able to use real film as well as to be able to make use of the real folcal lenght in my Canon lenses. My 10D crops the field of view from the lenses - multiplying the focal length by 1,6.
Philips ToUCamA cheap web cam that I have hoped to be able to use to autoguide. I have tried but it was pretty messy since it is unmodified and thus not very sensitive (cant guide on faint stars)

Eye Pieces

Televue 3-6 Zoom
Vien LV 42
Vixen LVW

Other

Some day I might get the time to update the 'Other' section ;)
